Tennis teams honored

The Dawson County High School tennis team held its annual banquet on May 9.

 

Head coaches Chris Lundy and Jamey Bearden presented awards to both teams at the event.

 

Bearden awarded Hannah Velcoff as the team’s Most Valuable Player. Winning the Tiger Award was Lora Brown.

 

The Lady Tigers made the Region 8-AA playoffs this season.

 

Members of this year’s team were: Seniors; Brittany Adams, Hayley Adams, Kristen Goswick and Emma Salmela. Returning next year will be: Juniors; Sarah Anglin, Chloe Beacham, Courtney Blair, Lora Brown, Kristi Hyams and Morgan Williams: Sophomores; Natalie Burt, Whitney Glover, Hannah Porter and Hannah Velcoff.

 

On the boy’s side, Lundy presented his Most Valuable Player award to sophomore Spencer Roper. Taking the Tiger Award was Cameron Milholland.

 

The Tigers will lose three seniors in John Branson, Stephen Johnson and Tyler Stoaks.

 

Returning for Coach Lundy next year will be: Juniors; Grant Shope and Dakota Wood: Sophomores; Spencer Roper and Cole Water: Freshman; Craig Butler, Cameron Milholland and Lane Venters.
