First singles Brendan Swafford and Kayleigh Moon were the two Tigers players that left the match with victories. Moon won in two straight sets (6-2, 6-4) and Swafford went to a tie-breaking set to win the match (6-3, 4-6, 6-3).

Second doubles duo Sam Hulsey and Zach Friday were undefeated going into Monday’s match but lost in straight sets. First doubles team Ben Swafford and Connor Scroggins won their first set 6-3 but lost the next 2-6 and then lost the tiebreaker 1-6. Swafford and Hulsey, the only two seniors on either team, were celebrated on senior night.

To end their region schedule, both teams were swept by Cherokee Bluff. With her individual win in Monday’s match, Moon improves to 8-4 on the season, the best overall record in singles for either team this season.

The Tigers finish the regular season fifth in Region 7-3A. They will play North Hall in the first match of the region tournament on Tuesday, March 30 at 8:30 a.m. If the Tigers win, they earn a birth into the 3A state tournament but a loss will finish their season.

Dawson County will play one more non-region match against Chestatee High School on Wednesday, March 24 before their regular season comes to an end. The match starts at 4 p.m.
