Under windy and cold conditions March 31, the Dawson County High School track team held Senior Night at Tiger Stadium.

Head Coach Arron Haynes and his staff held a ceremony honoring the seniors from the boys’ and girls’ track teams.

Seniors on this year’s team are: Sara Dare, Megan Todd (manager), Art Brown, Jaziel Bustamante, Rush Davenport, Andrew Hinton, Matt Kellar, Preston Lewis, Kyle Maciolek, Casey McGinnis, Luke Parks, Cody Reidling, Brandon Samples and Levi Wilson.

Davenport holds the school record in the 200 and 400-meters. Parks has a share of the record in the pole vault.

On a side note, Kyle Maciolek also earned his Eagle Scout on Tuesday.

“This group will be dearly missed, we loose a lot of points from them next year. This group of boys has laid the foundation for teams of the future and have helped to turn the program around,” Haynes said.

In the tri-meet with Gilmer and Fannin, both the boys’ and girls’ teams were victorious.

The Lady Tigers scored 73 points, with Fannin coming in second with 48 and Gilmer added 27.

On the boys’ side, Dawson tallied 77 points to Gilmer’s 51, and Fannin finished third with only 42 points.

Both teams are currently off for spring break.

The teams will return to action on April 12 with a match at Johnson High School in Gainesville.

Meet time will be at 4 p.m.
