As summer winds down, Coach Jeff Lee and his Dawson County High School Tigers are ready for football season to begin.

The Tigers have been working out each morning in preparation for the season, which is just around the corner.

Skill players have been involved in three passing camps at East Jackson High School, Sequoyah and Presbyterian College.

Several linemen have attended line camp at different locations throughout the summer.

Lee estimates that 90 players have taken part in workouts this summer. There are 16 seniors on this year's squad.

"I was a little worried after not having spring practice," Lee said. "But we, as a staff, have been able to teach more this summer. We are so far ahead with our learning curve. I think we have enough installed on offense and defense to play a game right now."

Lee was ecstatic about how his team performed at 7-on-7 passing camps. The Tigers finished in third place at East Jackson, fifth place at Sequoyah, and sported a 13-4-1 record at Presbyterian.

"I was excited on how well we have done this summer," he said. "We played really well at all the camps, but the Presbyterian camp was by far the best."

At Presbyterian, the Tigers defeated a very tough Butler team on a last second touchdown pass in the first game.

"Butler is very physical and has several Division One athletes," Lee said.

The Tigers also went 2-0-1 against a talented North Oconee team at the camp.
