Head Coach Jimmy Pruett and his staff got a chance to preview the upcoming baseball team with a scrimmage game against Pickens County High School on Friday night.

 

The Tigers looked strong at the plate and won the game 12-9 over the AAA Dragons from Jasper.

 

Kaleb Holbrook tagged a 3-run homer in the first inning to get the Tigers going offensively.

 

Pickens answered in the third and scored 6 runs with two outs and the bases empty to take a 6-3 lead.

 

The Tigers came back behind the hitting of Logan Burt and Jacob Anglin. Both Burt and Anglin contributed 2 RBI’s on doubles. Colton Chester followed up the doubles with a triple.

 

Josh Harper added a 2 RBI double in the sixth inning. Harley Pruitt also had a 2 RBI single.

 

Pruett also got a chance to look at his pitching staff. Harper picked up the win, but was followed by Tyler Thurmond, Logan Burt and Tyler King on the mound.

 

Dawson will play its first regular season game on Thursday with a home game against Riverside Military Academy. First pitch will be at 5:30 p.m. The Tigers will host Gilmer County at 5:30 p.m. March 1.
