The Dawson County High School Tiger cross country team finished in fifth place at the Bob Roller Invitational at East Jackson High School last week.

Dawson County recorded 249 points in the 27 team event Oct. 18.

Hart County won the team title with 111 points, barely edging out second place finisher Lakeview Academy who came away with 113 points.

Once again, junior Dylan Forester led the Tigers with a third place finish.

Forester completed the 5,000-meter race with a time of 16:15.08. His time was good enough for a national elite status.

It was also a personal record for Forester.

There were 181 runners in the meet.

Tiger Chris Bywaletz also ran a great race. He crossed the finish line in 15th place with a time of 17:02.

Bywaletz also recorded a personal best with his time.

Winning the individual title was Gabriel Alvarez from Salem High School with a time of 16:00.66.

In second place was Ross Morris from Hart County. Morris posted a time of 16:10.84.

Every runner from Dawson County set a personal best in the race, according to the coaching staff.

Avery Cowart (18:02), Jake Hafermalz (18:28), Mason Carr (18:34), Garrette Carlisle (19:17) and Drew Keller (19:39) each earned valuable points for the Tigers.

Up next for Dawson County will be the Region 7-AAA meet Nov. 1 at Unicoi State Park in Helen.

The meet will be hosted by White County High School.
