The Dawson County High School Lady Tigers softball team will hold tryouts from 9 a.m. until noon Aug. 1.

Tryouts will be held for all girls interested in playing either junior varsity or varsity softball at the school.

All girls participating should bring softball shoes, glove, bat, sliding pants and a comfortable athletic shirt for tryouts.

Head Coach Jimmy Pruett said tryouts will only be one day. If there is a conflict, he encourages participants to contact either himself or assistant coach Nicki Rogers.

The Georgia High School Association requires all athletes to have a current athletic physical in order to participate in any athletic event. Physical forms can be picked up at the front desk at Dawson County High School. No one will be allowed to participate without a current physical.

The Lady Tigers finished the 2010 season with a 14-15-1 record and a place in the state tournament. The team lost to eventual state champion, Buford.

Pruett and his staff must replace three seniors from last year's squad: Cheyenne Bennett, Katie Pulley and Sydney Crumley.
