Soccer season remembered

The Dawson County High School men's and women's soccer teams held their annual end-of-the-year banquet on June 1 at Veterans Memorial Park pool.

Head Coach Jed Lacey's teams are coming off a great year, with both making it to the Elite Eight round of the Class AAA state playoffs.

The Lady Tigers lost to eventual state champion The Westminster School, 5-0, while the boys were defeated by Decatur, 2-1.

Lacey's girls' team finished with an impressive 14-4 overall record and a final ranking of No. 6 in the state.

The Lady Tigers were also Region 7-AAA runner-ups with a 5-1 record in region play.

The boy's team finished the season with an equally impressive 12-4-2 record and a No. 7 ranking in the final state poll.

Lacey and his staff of George Graves, Stanton Rogers, Chess Hamby and Derek Waters presented awards to the players.
