Another of Dawson County High School's football players has signed an athletic scholarship with a nearby college.
Jackson Putnam, a senior who has been the Tigers' leading tackle for the last two years, signed a scholarship agreement Friday with Berry College, a Division III school near Rome.
"This is a great opportunity for him. Their coach is very excited about getting him. When [the recruiter] saw the film, he said: ‘He's about as good as anyone we have on campus right now,'" said Jeff Lee, Dawson County High School head football coach. "That's a very positive thing to say and a high remark. This is a brand new program, so he'll have a chance to play in a very tough conference."
Putnam is the fourth senior of the 2014 class to sign an athletic scholarship.
