On Friday, Aug. 6, the Dawson County Tigers lost 46-10 against the North Forsyth Raiders in a preseason scrimmage.

The Tigers struggled to move the ball against the Raiders. The only offensive points scored by the Tigers was a 28-yard field goal in the third quarter by sophomore Dominic LeBlanc.

Quarterback Zach Holtzclaw threw just one interception, but it was in the red zone and returned for a Raiders touchdown. The touchdown scored by the Tigers was off of a Raiders fumble recovered by Matt Bennett and ran back for a classic ‘scoop-and-score’ touchdown.

The game was penalty-heavy for both teams as they prepare to start their season on Aug. 20. Dawson County rematches Cass High School at home. In last year’s match, the Tigers lost 23-7.
