The Dawson County varsity boys' soccer team, ranked No. 8 in Class AAA, defeated North Forsyth in Coal Mountain, 2-0 on Feb. 21.
It was a scoreless battle in the first half, but that soon changed with a goal by Tiger Brandon Lund on an assist by Cole Edwards at the 33:33 mark of the second half.
Nine minutes later, Dawson County added a second goal by Drew Bishop off of an assist by Randy Schultz on a corner kick.
"After an intense practice we put an emphasis on our passing game," said Tigers' Head Coach Jed Lacey. "We came out against North Forsyth and looked like the team I expected us to be."
Lacey said playing North Forsyth is a good test for his team.
"North Forsyth is a very talented team, so we knew it was going to be a hard fought and physical game. Our defensive pressure really dominated the game," Lacey said.
"I thought Brandon Lund really looked great up front teaming with Cole Edwards to give us a formidable front attack. Our midfield looked so good with Sal Mendoza, Drew Bishop, Alan Sanchez and Jason Mays just playing to perfection," Lacey said.
The Tigers will take on Rabun County at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home.
