The Dawson County High School varsity boy's soccer team is in position to decide its own fate.

Head Coach Jed Lacey's must win its next two games, against Lakeview Academy and Riverside Military Academy, to clinch second place in the area and a spot in the state playoffs.

Union County High School has already clinched the area title.

"It will be up to us," said Lacey. "We will determine our own fate."

As a tune-up, the Tigers will play host to Chestatee High School today, April 14 with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

The pressure will be on Friday when the team travels to Gainesville to face off against a 1-7 Lakeview Academy team.

If the Tigers defeat Lakeview they will host Riverside Military Academy, 8-4, for the second spot next Tuesday, April 20 in Dawsonville.

Game time will be at 5:30 p.m.

"It's up to us. We don't have to depend on any other team," said Lacey. "We would love to have a big crowd for the Riverside game. It should be exciting and our boys would love having the fans behind us."
