Lady Tigers finish fourth in region meet

The Dawson County High School Lady Tigers track team finished in fourth place at the Region 7-AAA meet last week in Dawsonville. Coach Arron Haynes' team accumulated 77 team points.

Capturing the Region 7-AAA title was North Hall with 162.5 points. Finishing in second place was Buford with 133 points and in third place was White County with 132 points.

The Lady Tigers will send several qualifiers to the State Sectionals on Saturday at East Jackson High School in Commerce.

Savannah Haberkam will represent Dawson County in the discus. Haberkam finished in second place with a throw of 104'0.5".

In the 100-meter high hurdles Katelynn Simpson and Sadie Hardesty will go to sectionals. Simpson finished in third and Hardesty in fourth place.

Simpson will also run in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles. She finished fourth at region to qualify for the sectionals.

Lady Tiger Bailey Cotter will run the 800-meters on Saturday after a third place finish in the region meet.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Caroline Lee, Cotter, Ansley Costley and Simpson finished in fourth place but it was enough to qualify for this week's event.

The top eight in each event at sectionals will advance to the state meet in Albany in a few weeks.
