The game was over early as the #1-seed North Oconee Lady Titans (18-7) used a suffocating full court press to defeat Dawson County 55-27 last Tuesday night.

With the loss Dawson’s season came to an end. The Lady Tigers finished at 4-20 for the year.

With the win, The Lady Titans qualified for the state tournament. It will be North Oconee’s first-ever trip to the tournament.

Erin Gordon led all Lady Tiger scorers with six points, coming off the bench. Gordon hit two 3-point shots for Head Coach Steve Sweat’s ball club. It wasn’t enough, as North Oconee used a potent fast-break attack to extend the lead by as many as 25 points late in the third quarter.

North Oconee’s Jessica Watson led all scorers with 16 points.

Lady Titan Brooke Satterfield had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Also scoring for the Lady Tigers were Jessi Phillips with five points, Natalie Parker with four points, Alyss Woody and Cheyenne Bennett added three points each, Morgan Huber and Amanda Sheriff each contributed two points and Christian Daniel and Judith Hall scored one point each.

A young Dawson squad, there are no seniors on the team, will use the off-season to work on fundamentals and prepare for next year.
