The Dawson County girls soccer team dominated East Jackson in a scrimmage game at Tigers Stadium last week.

The Lady Tigers used a combination of speed and quickness to overcome the Lady Eagles, 5-0, on Feb. 9.

"Our team worked poll to poll and never let East Jackson breath. We played fast, strong and physical. The players are skilled and will be a force this season," said Head Coach Jed Lacey.

Dawson scored quickly off the foot of freshman McKay Shively from an assist by Brittany Duffy at the 20:25 mark of the first half.

Two minutes later Shively scored her second goal to stretch the lead to 2-0.

Dawson added one more goal before halftime when Jade Perry found the back of the net from a pass from Shively. The Lady Tigers held a commanding 3-0 lead at intermission.

"The front of the formation of junior Brittany Duffy and freshman McKay Shively gives us the ball skill and power this program has been waiting on for years. Those two played so good together up front, making their runs and helping in possessing the ball with precise ball movement. It was incredible," Lacey said.

The Lady Tigers added two more goals in the second half.

Shively completed a hat trick with her third goal of the evening at the 31:38 mark of the second half off of an assist by Taylor Bennett.

Brooke Duffy completed the scoring with just 7 minutes left in the game after receiving the pass from Morgan Callas.

Goalkeeping duties were shared by freshman Anela Melton, and junior Stephanie Lefler.

Melton played the first half, while Lefler helped keep the shutout with her play in the second half.

"Our goalkeepers look great and we still do not have Kenna Seitz back from basketball yet. I thought defensively we played outstanding with Emily Stowers, Anna Hawkins, Brooke Shively and Morgan Collett.

"Senior transfer Carissa Perez was outstanding distributing the ball and controlling the center of the field. Incoming freshman Taylor Bennett was a beast on the outside along with Brooke Duffy controlling the touch lines," he added.

This year's team will include five seniors: Carissa Perez, midfielder, Morgan Huber, defender, Morgan Collett, forward, Emily Stowers, defender and Brooke Shively, defender.

Completing this year's junior roster will be: Kenna Seitz, goalkeeper, Stephanie Lefler, goalkeeper, Lauren Dare, defender, Brittany Duffy, forward, Allie Costley, midfielder and Jade Perry, midfielder.

Sophomores on this year's team are Kamila Baran, forward, Brooke Duffy-midfielder, Madison Shope-midfielder, Morgan Callas-midfielder, Riley Cox-midfielder and defender and Suzanne Eckert-midfielder.

This year's freshmen class will be: Anna Hawkins-defender, Anela Melton-defender and goalkeeper, Taylor Bennett-forward and McKay Shively-midfielder.

Lacey and his team played its first regular season game Feb. 14 at Gilmer County.

Scores were unavailable at press time.

The Lady Tigers will travel to Buford on Thursday for a game with the Lady Wolves.

Kickoff will be at 5:30 p.m.

The first home game for Dawson will be Feb. 21 against White County in another 5:30 p.m. start.
