Christine Parker was named first team All-Area track by the Gainesville Times earlier this month. Parker claimed the Region 8-AA title in the 3200 meters for the Lady Tigers during her senior season.

Parker finished seventh in the state track meet in the 3200-meter event, held in Albany. She crossed the finish line with a time of 12:59.77.

Winning the event was Lauren Kester from Greater Atlanta Christian School with a time of 11:41.09.

She also holds the school record in the 3200-meter with a time of 12:41 for Head Coach Arron Haynes’ Lady Tigers.

Freshman sensation, Madalyn Walters, also earned honors from the Times. Walters was named second team All-Area.

She finished second in the 1600-meters at the Region 8-AA meet. At the state meet Walters came in fifth place with a time of 5:29.10.

Taking the state championship was her cross-country foe from North Oconee, Rebecca Greenwall. Greenwall finished with a time of 5:15.75.

Walters holds the school record for the 1600-meter with a time of 5:44.

On the boys’ side, TJ Byrd was named as an honorable mention. Byrd, a senior, holds the pole vault record for the Tigers.
