The Dawson County High School Lady Tiger softball team is getting hot at the right time.

Following last week’s wins over Region 8-AA foe Oglethorpe County, 5-4, and Rabun County, 1-0, the team followed up by winning its bracket at the prestigious Milton Tournament held at North Park in Alpharetta.

The Lady Tigers have won seven of their last eight games to move their overall record to an impressive 15-9 heading into the region tournament next week.

Despite losing the first game to AAAAA opponent Alpharetta, 9-4, the team rebounded to beat AAAAA Centennial, 7-4, West Hall, 6-3, Rockdale County, 7-0, and Dunwoody, 2-0.

“We only made three errors the whole tournament,” assistant coach Nickie Rogers said.

“Amanda Gravitt played a great third base. Our pitching from Cheyenne Bennett and Sydney Cox was awesome. We had timely hits that helped throughout the tournament,” she added.

Dawson had a final regular season game at Fannin County yesterday.

Results of that game were not available as of press time.
