Ladies take two

Dawson County High School Varsity Softball Coach Jimmy Pruett's team won two games last week.

On Sept. 4, the team traveled to Union County and came away with a big 6-1 victory.

The Lady Tigers second win of the week came against Region 7-AAA foe East Hall. Once again Dawson County played stellar defense and won 7-0.

Dawson County is currently 2-0 in Region 7-AAA play.

Against a very tough Union team, freshman Tabitha Morrison had a great game, picking up three hits. Also recording multi-hit games were Joy Lewis and Emily Hunsucker.

Driving in runs against the Lady Panthers were: Martie Rogers, Jenna Abbott, Hunsucker, Samantha Moulder and Lewis.

Abbott picked up the win. She pitched four innings and racked up 11 strikeouts.

Rogers came on in relief and pitched three strong innings and recorded three strikeouts.

The Lady Tigers' game against East Hall on Thursday was never close.

Abbott once again picked up the win with a shutout.

Pruett allowed Abbott her longest outing of the season. She pitched five innings.

Once again, the senior pitcher had 11 strikeouts.

Rogers came on in relief for the final two innings.

Lewis was the offensive leader with three hits.

Abbott got the game off to a great start in the first inning with a 3-run homer.

Picking up two hits were Carly Gilreath, Moulder and Hunsucker.

Adding single hits were Rogers, Abbott and Natalie Burt.
