The Dawson County High School Lady Tigers' basketball team traveled to Rome, June 3, to participate in a three-day camp at Shorter College.

Head Coach Steve Sweat's team played three games. The team competed against Pope, Lee County and Darlington.

The games were the first of the summer for Dawson County.

"It was a great day of basketball at Shorter," Sweat said. "I'm sure the girls were glad to play against another team. It was our first real game of the summer.

"We shot pretty well from the outside. We have got to work on our press defense and taking care of the basketball. We will need everybody to learn and understand their role. Once they learn if they have to fill it (their role)."

Sweat said he was excited to get the summer session underway.

"It is always exciting to get things going again. We played OK. The more we play, the better it will get. We just have to keep working," Sweat said.

Earlier this week, the team played at a camp at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega.

The Lady Tigers are coming off a 29-1 season.

Sweat must replace seniors Sheyenne Seabolt, Ashley Parker and Jordan Moore.
