The state playoff bound Dawson County Lady Tiger soccer team finished its regular season with a 6-0 loss to Creekview on April 20.

Creekview came into the contest with a brilliant 12-1 record.

Dawson is currently 7-6-2 on the season.

Head Coach Rick Corwin’s team was playing short-handed.

Seniors Lindsey Vinson, goalie, and Chelsea Terrell, right midfielder, were unavailable to play due to sickness and injury.

“We were overmatched without Lindsey and Chelsea,” Corwin said.

“Creekview is a very well-coached, very skillful team, and they just overpowered us. I expect them to go far in the state playoffs,” he added.

“I hope our girls get well this week before we play this Friday. We are going through illness and injury at a bad time of year,” Corwin said.

Dawson will play host to North Oconee on Friday in the first round of the state A/AA playoffs. It will be the first time a Dawson County girl’s team has hosted a state game.

North Oconee comes into the contest with an 8-6-1 record and a region runner-up finish to Athens Academy.

The Lady Titans lost to Athens Academy, for the region title, 4-3 last week on penalty kicks.

The Lady Titans have some playoff experience, as the team advanced to the second round last season before losing to Lovett, 4-0.

“I hope we can get a good crowd,” said Corwin. “It will mean a lot to the girls to get some support from our fans.”

Kickoff for the state playoff game at Tiger Stadium is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
