While the weather was cool for the Lady Tigers varsity soccer game on Wednesday, the action on the field was anything but.

The Lady Tigers squared off against East Jackson High School Feb. 21 and the game was action packed.

The Lady Tigers scored just over three minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead.

Dawson scored two more goals in the game to take a 3-0 win, but defense for the Lady Tigers was relentless.

Sophomore McKay Shively, off a pass from Taylor Bennett, blasted the ball past the East Jackson goalie to put the Lady Tigers ahead 1-0.

It was Shively's fourth goal of the young season.

Freshman Tina Libao added a second goal on a blast from 30-yards out with 10:50 remaining before halftime. The goal was Libao's fourth of the season.

Isabella Elliott put the game out of reach with a second half goal. Elliott sprinted past the East Jackson defense and hit a shot that deflected off the goalie for her second goal of the year.

Lady Tiger goalie Emily Stapler got her second shutout in two games played.

Dawson County is currently ranked as the No. 6 team in Class AAA. They are sporting a 2-0 record and will play at Towns County on Friday.

"I'm really happy about the win tonight," Lacey said. "These young players are giving us all they got right now and are learning at a fast rate. Starting freshman Tina Libao and Emily Queen are playing way beyond their years and are giving us the play we need from the midfield. Freshman Isabella Elliott is our third forward and came in off the bench and showed why her future is so bright."
