JV Tigers run in Clear Creek Invitational

The Dawson County High School junior varsity boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Clear Creek Trail Invitational recently in Ellijay.

Aaron Garcia led the Tigers boys with a fourth place finish and a time of 21:12. Tiger teammate Ethan Cowart crossed the finish line in seventh-place with a time of 21:38.

Tigers Gabriel Cowart (22:54), Andrew Hafermalz (23:40) and Justin Posey (27:49) also ran the hilly, 3.1-mile course.

Winning the individual title was Austin Watkins from Gilmer County with a time of 20:41.

For the girls, ninth grader Caroline Collett led the charge with a third place finish and a time of 29:32.

Four other Lady Tigers placed in the top 10, including Brianna Burt in fourth place, Hope Bennett in sixth place, Heidi Collettin seventh place and Jaylee Leete finished in ninth place.

Also running for the Junior Varsity Lady Tigers were Claudia Santillian and Carly Glaze.

JaNae Holloway from Lumpkin County took the individual championship with a time of 25:32.

"I was very pleased with how our runners did in the JV races," said Head Coach Charles Beusse. "We had many top 10 finishers for both boys and girls."
