The Dawson County High School Junior Varsity football team moved its record to 2-1 on the season with a 24-6 victory over Lumpkin County at Tiger Stadium last Thursday.

Tiger running back Cody Smith scored Dawson’s first touchdown on a 35-yard run with 5:35 left in the first quarter.

The 2-point conversion was unsuccessful to make the score 6-0.

Dawson missed all four 2-point conversions during the game.

Zack Martin added another Dawson touchdown as the second quarter began. Martin broke loose from 30-yards out to put the Tigers ahead 12-0.

Lumpkin scored on a trick play, hook and lateral, just before halftime. The Indians missed the extra point, making the score 12-6.

Quarterback Tyler Dominy threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Mitchell Putnam at the end of the third quarter. Dawson held a commanding 18-6 lead.

The Tigers added another touchdown on a 42-yard run by Zach Wilkins in the fourth quarter.

Dawson will travel to Pickens for a 5 p.m. kickoff this Thursday.
