The Dawson County High School Junior Varsity Tiger football team lost to Pickens County’s junior varsity team, 28-0, at Tiger Stadium last Thursday afternoon.

The young Tigers are 0-4 on the year. The team will travel to Blairsville tomorrow for a game against Union County.

The Pickens team got on the scoreboard early in the first quarter.

The Dragons scored on a 70-yard touchdown reception by their tight end.

The 2-point conversion was successful and gave Pickens County an early 8-0 lead.

The Dragons scored two more times before halftime.

One score was on a 68-yard run with 2:22 left in the half, the other was following a turnover by the Tigers, with only 22 seconds remaining. The two additional touchdowns put the Dragons ahead 20-0 at halftime.

After some encouragement by the Dawson County coaching staff, the second half was a defensive struggle.

The visiting Dragons scored again with only 5:10 to play to pad their lead to 28-0.

Dawson’s only offensive drive took the ball down to the 11-yard line after a beautifully executed option play from quarterback Wyatt Wofford to running back Cody McGinnis.

The Tigers couldn’t punch the ball into the end zone and were stopped by the Pickens County defense on fourth and goal.
