Head Coach Wes Greer’s junior varsity Tigers basketball team lost for the first time this season, 35-31, Jan. 19 against Jackson County.
The Tigers held a strong 18-9 lead at halftime.
Jackson rebounded in the second half and capitalized on Tigers turnovers and missed shots to take a 25-19 lead after three quarters of play.
The Panthers continued to make shots in the final quarter to come away with the 4-point win.
“We just lost our intensity and focus for a few minutes,” Greer said. “It cost us a win. We outscored them in every quarter but the third and still lost.”
Jonathan Sanderson led the Tigers in scoring with 10 points.
Dawson bounced back on Friday with a win over Union County before losing its second game of the season on Saturday at Gilmer County. Results were not available as of press time on those two games.
