The junior varsity Lady Tiger softball team captured first place last Saturday at a tournament held at North Hall High School in Gainesville.
Head Coach Nickie Rogers’ team went 4-1 in the tournament with wins over North Hall, 15-0 and 3-1, Chestatee, 7-3, and Lumpkin, 7-3 in the championship game.
Dawson suffered only one loss, by a 6-2 score, to Lumpkin earlier in the day.
Martie Rogers had a great day on the mound.
She pitched four and a half games and recorded one shut out.
Rogers has 54 strikeouts for the season with only nine walks in eight games.
Offensively, Anna Torres picked up seven hits on the day and scored four runs.
Taylor Shirley also had a big day at the plate. She contributed six hits, including two homeruns.
Lady Tiger Natalie Burt also had seven hits for her team.
With the tournament championship, the Lady Tigers finished the season with an overall record of 10-3.
