Dawson County High School junior varsity girls' basketball coach Anne Hyams' team won 31-21 over North Hall Jan. 10 in Dawsonville.

With the win the Lady Tigers improved their record to 6-1 on the season.

The Lady Tigers defense came up big in the second quarter and gave up zero points to the Lady Trojans.

Dawson County took a slim 16-12 lead after two quarters of play.

Using a full court press, the Lady Tigers forced several North Hall turnovers in the third quarter and outscored the Lady Trojans to take a 31-19 advantage.

"Our girls are a hard-working, competitive group of girls that continue to add new elements to their game," Hyams said. "Their defense is improving as they are bringing more hustle and intensity during practice and to the scheduled games."

Leading Dawson County in scoring was Emily Queen with 10 points.

Also scoring for the Lady Tigers were: Katelynn Simpson with six points. Brittany Griggs, Eliza Sillesky and Lauren Burgess had five points each.

Up next for Dawson County will be a 4 p.m. game Friday against Fannin County in Blue Ridge.
