The JV girls basketball team lost to Lambert in its first action of the 2009-2010 season, by a 36-21 score last Thursday, Nov. 19.

The team is 0-1 on the season and will not play again until Dec. 4 at Gilmer County.

Dawson was down 20-15 at halftime.

“We are so young,” commented Head Junior Varsity Girls Coach Jed Lacey. “We moved up four freshmen to the varsity and only having two sophomores in the program we do not have a lot of depth at the JV level. We only have nine girls on the JV.”

Leading scorer for Dawson was Morgan Huber with six points.

“We played real hard, but are still in the early stages of these girls getting used to playing with each other. I expect these girls to improve and become a very good team in the very near future. We just need more time on the floor together,” he said.

“Overall, I am happy with a lot of things I saw in today’s game. I also saw some areas we need to improve on,” he added.

Also scoring for the Lady Tigers were Gracie Hovan with five points, Whitney Glover and Kacie Bearden contributed four points each.
