The Dawson County High School junior varsity girls basketball team remains unbeaten following a close 32-27 win over Banks County Dec. 6.
Coach Anne Hyams' team opened up a 19-8 halftime lead. The Lady Tigers were outscored 19-13 in the final two quarters to make the game close.
Eight different Dawson County players contributed offensively to the victory led by Katelynn Simpson with nine points.
Also scoring were Belle Queen with six points, Eliza Sillesky and Emily Queen with four each, Cassie McPherson-three points, Heather Brady, Tatum Pruitt and Lauren Burgess with two points each.
"The scoring remains a team effort, as all players contributed towards the win. They have a good team chemistry, they play hard, and are working diligently to elevate their level of play," Hyams said.
Dawson County will play its first two home games of the season this week. The team will host Lumpkin County at 4 p.m. Dec. 13 and followed by Pacelli at 3 p.m. Saturday.
