The Dawson County High School junior varsity boys’ basketball team opened the season with a huge 58-30 win over Towns County on Nov. 19 in Dawsonville.

The Tigers are currently 1-0 on the young season.

Dawson had 10 different players score during the contest.

Brothers, Mitchell and Jackson Putnam were the leading Tiger scorers with 14 and 12 points respectively.

Head Coach Wes Greer’s team opened up a 19-5 first quarter lead and never looked back.

By halftime, Dawson was comfortably ahead, by a 32-17 margin.

The big lead allowed Greer to get all his players some playing time.

“I thought we shot the ball really well,” Greer said. “Our guys played really hard.”

Also scoring for Dawson were: Jonathon Sanderson-9; Lucas Pain-5; Scott Zadernak, Terrell Dawson and Jeff Partington each tallied 4 points; Jesse Gee, Jonah Martin and Steven Stanfill added 2 points each.

Grant Arancidic led Towns County with 15 points.
