The Dawson County Tigers golf team remained undefeated on Tuesday, March 9, beating North Forsyth High School and region opponent Lumpkin County High School 174-175-201.

Andrew Hughes scored a team-low 39. Hughes was named Polo Ralph Lauren Player of the Week last month and is one of the top golfers in the state. He and his brother Alex transferred to Dawson County last school year, but were unable to play after the season was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Alex Hughes scored a 43, Will Howard scored a 45 and Ty Whitmire rounded out the varsity scorers with a 47. Jalen Smith and Jeremey Ray both scored a 42 but their scores were not counted in the overall score of the match.

The Tigers beat Gilmer 164-235 on Thursday, March 4, with the Hughes brothers the leading scorers again. They competed in the Coal Mountain Classic, a preseason tournament against 19 other schools.

The Tigers golf team will play Lumpkin County again on Tuesday, March 16, at Chestatee Golf Course in Dawsonville.
