Dawson County wrestling participated in the Area Duals last Friday and Saturday at Fannin County High School in Blue Ridge.

After an opening 54-22 win over host Fannin County on Friday night the tournament went sour for the Tigers on Saturday morning.

The Tigers dropped a close 37-30 match to McNair High in the morning session. Dawson County rebounded to take a 42-33 win over St. Pius X before being eliminated by eventual champion Blessed Trinity Catholic School, 46-29.

The Titans from Blessed Trinity won the area duals and will move on to the championship this weekend in Macon.

Up next for Coach Arron Haynes' team will be a tri-match with Riverside Military and Rabun Gap at 5 p.m. Jan. 14 at Dawson County High School. The match will also be senior night.
