Wrestling practice began this week at Dawson County High School.

Head Coach Arron Haynes' squad is preparing for its first match, scheduled for Nov. 16 at West Hall High School.

"We should have a solid team this season," Haynes said.

The season will mark Haynes' 15th year at Dawson County and his 11th year as head wrestling coach.

Several skilled wrestlers will return for the 2013-2014 season. Gavin Brown will lead the way in his weight class. Last season Brown wrestled at 182-pounds and finished second in the state traditional meet.

Also returning are: Keaton Toal, a state qualifier, Justin Evans, area champion at 113 pounds, Harrison Adams, Cody Greer, Zach Guy and Jacob Haberkham.

After the Spartan Slam at West Hall, Dawson County will travel to Mt. Pisgah on Nov. 20. The Tigers first home match will be Nov. 26, when the team will host Clarkston and Jackson County in a tri-meet.
