Golfers split match

The Dawson County High School boys and girls golf teams traveled to Big Canoe Golf Club for a match against Pickens County High School on March 24.

 

The boys won, 180-202, while the girls were narrowly defeated, 98-97.

Wesley Bearden led the boys with a 9-hole total of 40.

 

John Chameli and Clay Glover both shot a 45 on the tough course.

 

Tiger Caleb Samples posted a 50 for the match.

 

On the girls’ side, three golfers came home with identical scores.

 

Tayler Hasbrouck, Becca Dotson and Rachel Dotson all scored a 49 to lead the Lady Tigers.

 

Tatum Tuner finished out the girls’ scoring with a 50.

 

Both teams were off last week due to spring break. The team will return to action at Jackson County today at Traditions Golf Course.

 

The course will also be the site of the region tournament, which will begin April 18.

 

The golf team will host its last home match of the season against Pickens County High School on April 14 at Crystal Falls Golf Course.

 

Both matches will begin at 4 p.m.
