Dawson County defeated Fannin County last Tuesday, 160-179, in a match played at Crystal Falls Golf Course in Dawsonville. It was the first win of the season for the Tigers (1-1).

The Tigers also set a new 9-hole team record with the 160.

Junior Zach Williams scored a personal best 36 to lead the Tigers. Cody Palmer came in with a 40, while Wesley Bearden shot a 41. Nick Fitts and Matt Christopher both had a 43 for Head Coach Van Samples’ team.

Dawson County High School Lady Tigers Head Coach Shari Chastain’s girls’ team began their defense of last year’s state AA runner-up trophy with a team score of 78.

The Lady Tigers were only able to complete 7-holes due to darkness.

Seniors Charley Whitmire and Katie Stowers were able to finish their 9-hole rounds.

Whitmire came home with a 45, while Stowers shot a 55.

Both teams will be back in action Wednesday as they host Pickens County High School.

The team will also compete in the Coal Mountain Classic Saturday at Hampton Golf Course in Forsyth County.
