Golfers have busy week on the green

It was a busy week for the Dawson County boys and girls golf teams.

  

The boys’ team picked up wins over Jackson County, Pickens, Forsyth Central and West Forsyth. The only blemish on their record was a loss to Hart County.

  

The Lady Tigers weren’t as successful. The team tied with Pickens and Jackson counties, but lost to Forsyth Central, West Forsyth and Hart County.

  

Last Tuesday, both teams traveled to Tradition in Braselton to play Hart and Jackson counties. The boys defeated Jackson County, 167-180, before losing to Hart County, 167-156.

  

Wesley Bearden led Dawson with a 38 over nine holes, followed by Cody Palmer with a 41. Justin Denard added a 43 and Zach Williams shot a 45 for Head Coach Van Samples’ Tiger team.

  

The Lady Tigers tied with Jackson, 112-112, but lost to Hart, 112-108, in a very close match.

  

Erin Pruitt and Racheal Dotson both finished with a 56. Tayler Hasbrouck and Tatum Turner added a 63 each to close out the scoring for Dawson County.

  

On Wednesday, both teams were back in action playing host to Pickens County High School at Crystal Falls Golf Course.

  

Despite cold and rainy conditions, the boys team defeated Pickens, 165-190, and the Lady Tigers tied, 107-107.

  

Cody Palmer led Dawson County with a 2-over par 38. Zach Williams also had a good round with a 40, followed by Wesley Bearden with a 43 and Caleb Samples with a 44.

  

On the girls’ side, Rachael Dotson shot a 52. Erin Pruitt finished with a 55, followed by Tayler Hasbrouck adding a 64 and Tatum Turner with a 68.

Both teams teed it up again on Thursday hosting Central Forsyth and West Forsyth at Crystal Falls.

  

The boys won 167-171 over Forsyth Central and West Forsyth, 167-185.

  

Zach Williams was low medalist with a 1-over par 37.

  

Wesley Bearden added a 41, Cody Palmer a 43, and John Chameli a 46.

  

The Lady Tigers lost 117-99 to Central and 117-91 to West Forsyth.

  

Racheal Dotson was low medalist with a 57. Tatum Turner finished the nine holes with a 60.
