The Dawson County High School boys' golf team won the Border Wars Tournament at Achasta Golf Club on April 8.

The Tigers played a three-round event against North Forsyth and Lumpkin County. Each school hosted a round and the team with the lowest three rounds was presented a trophy.

Coach Wes Greer's team won the event by posting a three-round total of 526 to edge out North Forsyth, who scored 549. Lumpkin County was third with a total team score of 627.

"I am really proud of how our guys have played all year," Greer said. "They have shown maturity through the season and hopefully this will help us get over the hump at the region tournament in two weeks."

Dawson County was sporting a 14-0 record coming into the April 8 match, but you could tell the Tigers were a little rusty coming back from Spring Break.

North Forsyth won the match with a 182, followed by the Tigers with a 184. Lumpkin brought up the rear with a 195.

Hunter Burt posted the low round with a 41.

"Hunter was our only bright spot," Greer said.
