The Dawson County High School boys' golf team improved its record to 15-3 last week.

Coach Wes Greer's team began the week playing in the War Eagle Invitational at Crystal Falls Golf Club on April 8. The team shot a season low 325 to take ninth place in the event.

Levi Samples was low medalist with an 18-hole total of 74.

On April 9, the team had a match with Lumpkin County, once again at Crystal Falls. The Tigers came away with a convincing 167-182 win. Samples led Dawson County with a nine-hole total of 38.

Just behind Samples was teammate Jake Phillips with a 39.

Finishing the scoring was Clay Glover with a 44 and Casey Compton with a 46.

On April 11, the team traveled to Whitepath Golf Course in Ellijay to face a very tough Gilmer County team. The Tigers escaped with a one stroke win, 176-177.

The Tigers won the match when one of the Bobcats was assessed a one stroke penalty for not addressing his par putt on hole number three.

Samples led the team again with a 40, Phillips came in with a 42, Compton and Glover both shot a 47.

"Our players are continuing to get better every match," Greer said. "The region tournament is coming up soon and we will have to shoot our best."
