Golf teams qualify for state
Boys and girls finish as runners-up

The boys and girls Dawson County High School golf teams finished second in the Region 8-AA golf tournament held at The Traditions Golf Club in Braselton on Monday.   

With the runner-up finishes, both teams qualified for the state golf tournament.   

The state tournament is scheduled for May 3.   

The boy’s team shot a 18-hole total of 336, which was just two strokes behind region champion North Oconee.   

Zach Williams was low medalist for Dawson County with an 80.   

Williams finished second in the individual competition just three strokes out of first place.   

Also posting good rounds were Wesley Bearden with an 83, Cody Palmer, 85; Justin Denard, 88; John Chameli, 91 and Caleb Samples with a 96.  

The Lady Tigers finished second behind Jefferson with a 209. Jefferson won the region championship with a score of 193.  Tayler Hasbrouck led Dawson County with an 18-hole total of 102.  

Hasbrouck was followed by Rachel Dotson with a 107, Erin Pruitt, 119, andJessi Phillips shot a 124.

The girls' state tournament will be held at the Alpharetta Athletic Club, while the boys will play at Crabapple Golf Club in Woodstock.
