Recent weather has had an effect on the Dawson County golf season. Both the boys and girls teams were only able to play one match last week.

On March 8, Dawson  traveled to Ellijay to play Gilmer County.

Both teams came away with wins on a tough course at Whitepath Golf Club.

Head Coach Van Samples’ boys team tied a 9-hole school record with a 157-188 win. The Lady Tigers also pulled out a win.

Cody Palmer shot the first sub-par round in the last five years by a Tiger with a 1 under par 35. Dawson teammate Wesley Bearden also had a great round coming in with a 38.

Tigers, John Chameli and Coleman Lowenthal, each scored a 42 for the Tiger win.

For the Lady Tigers, Erin Pruitt shot a 45 and Racheal Dotson shot a 47 to secure the win.

Tayler Hasbrouck had a 9-hole total of 52 and Tatum Turner came in with a score of 55 for Dawson County.

Both teams will play host to East Jackson March 22.
