Golf season underway

The Dawson County boys golf team lost to Lumpkin County 212-169 last week.

The match was played Feb. 21 at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega. It was the first match of the year for the Tigers.

The girls' team was scheduled to play but the match was canceled.

Leading the Tigers was Casey Compton with a 50 over the 9-hole event.

Also scoring for Dawson County were Levi Samples with a 53, Clay Glover with a 54, and Caleb Samples with a 54.

Members of this year's boys' team are: Caleb Samples (the only senior), Casey Compton, Zach Fisher, Clay Glover, Levi Samples, Kyle Bertolone, John Pulley, Brandon Barker, David Ford, Trevor Gordon, Jake Phillips and Ty Williams.

This year's girls' team will be made up of seniors Tayler Hasbrouck and Tatum Turner.

Also on the team are Rebecca Dotson and Madison Caldwell.

Both teams will travel to Chateau Elan on Thursday for a match against Jackson County on the prestigious Traditions Golf Course.

It will be a 9-hole event and will start at 4 p.m.
