Girls take sixth place

The Dawson County High School girls cross country team finished in sixth place at the sixth annual Buford Invitational Oct. 10.

The Lady Tigers earned 152 points.

Cassidy Lecours led the Lady Tigers with a 22nd place finish and a time of 23:16.

Dawson's Jade Perry came in 27th. She covered the 3.1-mile course in a time of 23:41.

Taylor Grindstaff finished with a time of 23:53.

Eight other Dawson County runners participated in the event.

Cecilia Marckovich set a personal record with a time of 27:20.

Lady Tigers Sara Bywaletz (24:46), Savanna Estes (24:59), Dana Little (25:47), Christine Schmid (26:46), Carly Glaze (26:58), Bethany Auten (27:03) and Megan Spillane (27:20) also completed the course.

Winning the individual title was Emma Garrison from Union County with a time of 20:01.

Capturing the team title was White County High School with 24 team points.

The Lady Tigers will compete tomorrow at the Bob Roller Invitational at East Jackson High School.
