Senior Carly Gilreath led the Dawson County High School varsity Lady Tigers basketball team to a 60-54 victory over visiting Rabun County Nov. 13 in a preseason scrimmage.
Gilreath had a game-high 21 points in an impressive performance.
Even though it was just a scrimmage for both teams, the Lady Tigers made a great showing in front of a good crowd at the Ford E. Phillips Gymnasium.
"We have had some good weeks of practice so far this season. It was great to get to play a scrimmage game tonight against another team. It was a good test to see what we need to work on the most," said head coach Steve Sweat.
The Lady Tigers trailed 33-30 at halftime.
Dawson County outscored the Lady Wildcats 16-8 in the third quarter to take a 46-41 lead after 24 minutes of play.
Both teams played evenly in the final quarter as Dawson County came away with the win.
"It was a close game the entire night, but we were able to come away with the win," Sweat said.
Sheyenne Seabolt had a double-double for Dawson County with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Dawson County will not play again Nov. 27, when the team will travel to Dahlonega to play Lumpkin County. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
