Kimberly Wallace captured a first place medal in the long jump at the Greater Atlanta Christian School Invitational track meet last Saturday. Wallace had a leap of 15’9.5” to take the title.

 

Her nearest competitor was Randi Bohler of Holy Innocents with a jump of 15’8.5.”

 

Wallace had a great meet for the Lady Tigers. She placed seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 31’0.5” and eighth in the 100-meters with a time of 13.95.

 

Thirteen teams competed on the girls’ side from every classification. Blessed Trinity took the team title with 107 points, followed by Decatur with 106, GACS-78, Jefferson-64.5, Holy Innocents-59 and Lovett-49. Dawson County placed seventh with a team total of 46 points.

 

Dawson had several girls place in the top 10 in their events.

 

Madalyn Walters took third place in the 1,600 and 3,200-meters.

 

Walters finished with a time of 5:30.8 in the 1,600 and 11:51.00 in the 3,200.

Winning the 1600-meter race was Hailey Branch from Lovett with a time of 5:25.6.

 

Anna Gandolfe from Blessed Trinity crossed the finish line at 11:41 to take first in the 3,200 meter race.

 

In the discus, Lady Tiger Hayden Wilson placed second with a throw of 103’0.5,” just barely losing to Summer Varitek of Jefferson, who threw 104’2.5.”

Wilson also picked up a ninth place finish in the shot put with a distance of 29’3.25.”

 

Other top 10 finishers were the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.

 

Leslie Barnett came in fifth place in the high jump with a height of 4’6,” Gracie Hovan finished sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 31’4.5,” and Kristy Martin finished sixth  in the discus with a throw of 85’6.5.”

 

In the field events, Angelica Santillian finished 16th in the long jump and Kristy Martin came in 13th in the shot put.

 

Placers in the running events were: Leslie Barnett 14th and 16th in the 200-meter and 100-meter respectively, Reese Bryant finished 12th and Abbigale Brown came in 21st in the 400-meter, Rachel Gloeckner and Savannah Estes crossed the finish line in 10th and 15th place in the 800-meter, in the grueling 3,200-meters Brittany Auten broke the tape with a 13th place finish, Kayla Schandera finished 12th in the 100-meter hurdles and 14th in the 300-meter hurdles.

 

In a 9th and 10th grade 1,600-meter event, Lady Tigers Katherine Smith and Caroline Lee came in seventh and 10th place respectively.

 

The Lady Tigers have a meet at 4 p.m. Thursday against Fannin County in Blue Ridge.
