Girls fall to Rabun

Head Coach Steve Sweat’s varsity Lady Tiger basketball team fell to an undefeated Rabun County team, 79-49, in Tiger Friday night.

 

The loss was significant because it was the first Region 8-AA game for the Lady Tigers.

 

With the loss Dawson dropped to 0-1 in region play and 8-5 overall.

 

Rabun is currently perfect on the season at 14-0 and 1-0 in region play.

 

Dawson  placed two players in double figures for scoring, with Carly Gilreath scoring 12 points and Allie Costley contributing 11 points in the loss.

 

The Lady Wildcats jumped out to a commanding 29-9 lead after one quarter.

 

The talented Rabun team extended its lead to 53-25 at halftime and never looked back.

 

Dawson will have another tough match-up this Friday when they travel to Blue Ridge to face an undefeated Fannin County team. The Lady Rebels will come into the contest with a perfect 12-0 record and are 1-0 in Region 8-AA play.

 

Tip-off for the game will be at 7 p.m.

 

On Saturday the Lady Tigers will play host to non-region opponent Mt. Pisgah Christian. The Lady Patriots come into the contest with a 5-9 record and compete in Region 5-A. Tip-off will be at 6 p.m.
