The Lady Tiger tennis team lost 5-0 to a very strong Banks County team last Tuesday in Dawsonville.

“Banks just has much more experience than our players,” said Head Coach Jamey Bearden.

“You got to hand it to our girls, they played really hard and they did put in their best effort,” Bearden added.

With the loss, Dawson moved to 1-1 on the season.

At number one singles, Lady Tiger Hannah Velcoff lost 8-0 to Kara Murphy for the Lady Leopards.

Chloe Beacham had to forfeit at number two singles due to an injury. Emma Salmela played hard, but lost 8-1 to Haley Hill from Banks.

The doubles team of Lora Brown and Sarah Anglin lost to Taylor Seabolt and Anna Gairley of Banks by an 8-4 score.

At number two doubles, Hannah Porter and Whitney Glover lost 8-5 to Ashley O’Kelley and Alissa Malder from Banks County.

The Lady Tigers will travel to Gilmer today and East Hall tomorrow for Region 8-AA matches.

The next home match will be on March 15 against Union County.

All matches begin at 4 p.m.
