The Dawson County High School varsity girls’ soccer team picked up its eighth win of the season, with a 3-2 victory over East Hall Friday.

The Lady Tigers took a 2-1 halftime lead behind the goal of Katie Pritchard on an assist from Jade Perry just four minutes into the game.

The goal was Pritchard’s 11th of the season.

“Katie is so fast and works so hard,” said Head Coach Jed Lacey.

Riley Cox added the second goal on a beautiful pass from Pritchard with 18 minutes remaining before halftime.

The goal was Cox’s first of her high school career.

“Pritchard passed up a shot and laid out a beautiful pass to freshman Riley Cox, who in turn scored her first career high school goal,” Lacey said.

The Lady Vikings scored their only first half goal off the foot of Tatiana Castillo.

Dawson County scored the clinching goal early in the second half.

Perry took a corner kick from Brittany Duffy and scored past a diving Lady Viking goalie.

East Hall made things interesting on another goal by Castillo, her second of the game, with just four minutes remaining in the contest.

“This was a big win for us. It was not the prettiest win, but we won. The effort was there, just not the crispness we usually play with,” Lacey said.

The Lady Tigers played host to #9-ranked Union County (9-1; 3-1) on Tuesday. Scores were unavailable at press time.

With a win over Union, the Lady Tigers will secure a second place finish in the sub-region and a first round region home game.

Dawson County will travel to Towns County today for a match with the Lady Indians.

Kickoff for the Towns County game will be at 7 p.m.
