Practices for the Dawson County High School cross country teams recently resumed following the Fourth of July break.

Head Coach Brian DeRose is busy preparing his team for the upcoming season.

The tentative schedules for July and August have been released by the coaching staff. Runners will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the rest of this month.

There will be an exception on July 19 when all perspective runners will meet at 5:30 p.m.

On July 19 there will be an informational meeting for all parents at 6:45 p.m. The meeting will be dealing with fundraising for this season.

All runners will meet at Yahoola Park July 26 for a training session.

Mandatory practice will begin at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at the high school.

DeRose said that he and his staff will conduct a timed trial on Aug. 12. The time and location will be announced at a later date.

The team will run in its first meet on Aug. 27 at Athens Christian High School. Both junior varsity and varsity teams will compete in the event.

All athletes are reminded that they must have a sports physical and insurance on file before they can participate in summer activities. No runner will be allowed to practice on the "field" once school starts without one, according to DeRose.

Summer practices and workouts are voluntary until the mandatory starting date, DeRose said.
