The Dawson County High School girls' soccer program held its end-of-year banquet last week. Head Coach Jed Lacey presented participation certificates or letters to 34 players and managers.

Lacey lost five seniors and two managers following the conclusion of the past season.

Graduating players include: Ashley Avery, Sydney Crumley, Erin Gordon, Katie Pritchard and Amanda Sheriff.

Pritchard will continue her soccer career at Gordon College next school year.
Senior managers departing are Savannah Browder and Brigid Scully.

Winning awards for the Lady Tigers were: Golden Boot-Emily Stowers; Offensive MVP-Katie Pritchard; Defensive MVP-Ashley Avery: Coaches Award-Brooke Shively; Iron Tiger-Jade Perry; Best Support Player-Brittany Duffy; and Rising Tiger-Brooke Duffy.

"No one gave this team a chance to do anything at the beginning of the year because of all the players we lost from last season and how young we were going to be. This group of girls pulled together and became one heartbeat and played their hearts out every time they got on the pitch," Lacey said.

The future looks bright for Dawson County. Next year the team will return eight starters in Brittany Duffy, Jade Perry, Morgan Huber, Emily Stowers, Riley Cox, Brooke Shively, Kenna Seitz and Allie Costley.

"The most important thing about this year is that I was so honored and privileged to have a chance to coach such a wonderful group of girls," Lacey said.

The team finished the season with a 1-0 Region 8-AA loss at East Jackson. Dawson's overall record was 8-6.

Members of this year's team included: Juniors - Morgan Collett, Morgan Huber, Brooke Shively, Emily Stowers and Shelby Whitaker. Sophomores - Erica Blanton, Michelle Burkett, Allie Costley, Lauren Dare, Brittany Duffy, Stephanie Lefler, Jade Perry, Kenna Seitz and managers Kaylin Miller and Paige Reese. Freshmen - Kamila Baran, Morgan Callas, Brianna Cooke, Riley Cox, Brooke Duffy, Suzanne Eckert, Chelsea Gray, Sara Grogan, Hannah Moye, Megan Powell, Madison Shope and Abi Swanger.
