Dawson County High School catcher Colton Chester was named second team All-Area by The Times of Gainesville recently.

Chester was named as a designated hitter on the team.

Chester batted .462 for the Tigers, while tallying seven homeruns and 33 RBIs.

The talented player will be a junior next year on head coach Jimmy Pruett's team.

Joining Chester on the second team were, infielders: Jesse Strickland, senior, North Hall; Hunter Buffington, sophomore, East Hall; Breck Davidson, senior, Flowery Branch and Cody Streetman, senior, Commerce. Outfielders: Ryan Griffith, senior, Gainesville; Brody Thomas, senior, Flowery Branch; Chris White, senior, Johnson; catcher Skyler Weber, junior, Gainesville; pitchers Spencer Adams, sophomore, White County; Jalen Banks, senior, Jackson County and Preston Graham, junior, North Hall.

Named player-of-the-year was Michael Gettys from Gainesville High School.

Gettys played both outfield and pitched for the Red Elephants. He batted .389 with 9 homeruns and 45 RBIs.

Gettys scored 44 runs and stole 10 bases.

As a pitcher, Gettys had a perfect 12-0 record.

The sophomore had a 2.04 ERA with 78 strikeouts in only 61.2 innings.

The Times named Jeremy Kemp from Gainesville High School as coach-of-the-year.
